Palmerston’s population is 23,615 with an even split between males and females.  This accounts for 5812 families of which 29% are couples with no children. 

85.5% of the population were born in Australia, leaving only 14.5% being born overseas.  81.6% only speak English. 84% of residents are Australian citizens.  11.7% of the population claims indigenous heritage.

92% of people speak only English at home with a wide selection of languages making the final 8%.

65% of the population has home access to the internet. The unemployment rate is 2.6%. At least 26% of the population moved to Palmerston within the last year, while at least 56% moved here within the last 5 years. 17% of the population aged over 15 years have a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
